Werkwoorden vervoegen: nu en vroeger
The present tense, imperfectum and perfectum of the 24 most common Dutch verbs. Learn regular and irregular verbs with tables.
In the tables in the book every verb is given in three columns:
• Tegenwoordige tijd (present tense, nu): ik werk – I work / I am working.
• Onvoltooid verleden tijd (imperfectum, vroeger): ik werkte – I was working / I worked.
• Voltooid tegenwoordige tijd (perfectum, vroeger): ik heb gewerkt – I worked / I have worked. The perfectum is made with the auxiliary verb hebben or zijn + the past participle (voltooid deelwoord).
ik never takes -t: ik kom, ik werk, ik vind.
jij, u and hij/zij always take -t: jij komt, u werkt, hij vindt. If the stem already ends in -t, you don't add a second t: ik eet – jij eet.
In the plural (wij, jullie, zij) the verb looks like the infinitive: wij komen, jullie werken.
